Eye Examinations:
Dr. Barcus recommends yearly eye health examinations beginning as early as 6 months of age. In the first part of the exam we do a complete health check of your eyes including screening visual fields, auto refraction, and the latest in computer digital imaging photography. An enlarged view of the inside back of your eye is included. In the second part of your complete eye health exam, Dr. Barcus will dilate the eyes and do testing to determine your exact prescription for the most comfortable, clearest possible vision. Dr. Barcus routinely tests for diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration that may have no early symptoms but could lead to vision loss if not detected early. He then discusses the proper care and treatment with you personally.
Contact Lenses:
We offer quality, COMPREHENSIVE contact lens fittings for new and previous contact lens wearers. Our friendly staff will provide you with one-on-one teaching for new contact wearers. We fit toric, single vision, multi focals in daily, two week, monthly disposable lenses, and extended wear lenses such as gas permeable.
Contact Lens First Fit:
After a comprehensive eye exam Dr.Barcus analyzes your eyes for the best contact lens fit. We then
teach you how to insert, remove, and correctly care of your new contact lenses. After this Dr.Barcus evaluates the fit of the contacts to your eyes and your vision with the contact in, and then schedules any needed follow up care.
Continual Contact Lens Eye Care:
The annual contact lens, corneal/tear film evaluation and analysis, allows us to maximize eye health and vision, in addition to your annual eye health exam.
Medical Eye Services:
Dr. Barcus provides continuing care for patients to monitor your eyes for changes from diabetes,
hypertension, cholesterol, dry eyes, ocular allergies, eye infections, foreign bodies, glaucoma, macular degeneration, arthritis and other eye related diseases.
Children’s Vision:
Eye exams for children are extremely important. Early identification of a child’s vision problem
can be crucial because children often are more responsive to treatment when they are diagnosed early. According to the American Optometric Association (AOA), infants should have their first comprehensive eye exam at six months of age. Using modern instruments and computer technology Dr. Barcus
